Santa Cruz, California
Santa Cruz will always hold a special place in my heart. It is the only part of the ocean I can go to and feel completely at peace. I spent most of my childhood here with my fathers side of the family, whom have now passed away. The memories I hold with my grandmother here will never be forgotten, and whenever I visit I can’t help but feel her by my side. Not only does Santa Cruz make me the happiest girl in the world but the ocean alone is beautiful. There is something so soothing about the sound that the waves make when the tide hits the rocks.
I can see that life can be a lot like the ocean. It can be smooth, calm, or rough but in the end it is always beautiful. I’ve lost most of my immediate family (and almost my father) to cancer, therefor that has given me a reason to be grateful every day. I truly enjoy all aspects of life, I feel that there is always something positive even on the bad days. I have so much love in my heart and Santa Cruz just brings that out even more. My father and I took a day trip for Father’s Day this year and it was such an enjoyable trip for both of us since we hadn’t visited together in a couple of years. We got to spend some quality father-daughter time together and re-live some of those memories of when I was a child.
If you have never been to Santa Cruz before, I recommend that everyone go at least once. It’s located on the northern edge of Monterrey Bay, and home to the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk. There are many fun things to do here including: whale watching, the boardwalk, the casino arcade, the mystery spot, downtown santa cruz, among many others. It is also a perfect setting for a family vacation. Maybe you’ll find the love that I have found for this beautiful, and magical city.
